5 Tips for Serving a Big Tailgating Crowd

Serving a big crowd on game day at your home means setting up a buffet table that allows your guests to graze throughout the game. But it also means that you need to consider your menu and table layout carefully before your guests arrive.

Here are 5 simple tips to ensure that your large crowd is happy and well fed on game day:

1. Half-Time Rotations of Your Party Foods:

Rather than putting everything out at once, consider a half-time rotation of your party foods to keep your table as exciting as the game. Start with heavier dishes in the first half and then replace with sweeter, lighter dishes in the second half.

2. Give Dishes Height:

When setting up a buffet table, give your dishes height by adding a riser at the back of the table to ensure that all your dishes are within reach.

3. Offer Large & Small Serving Plates:

Start the table with a high stack of dishes, offering both large and small serving plates to accommodate varying serving sizes, and then on the other end of the table, set up your napkins and utensil area to ensure they have everything they need by the time they leave the buffet table.

4. Put Main Foods In Multiple Serving Dishes Among Table

Give your main dishes more than one serving position on the table. Having 2 portions of your main dish means that the buffet line will move quickly and that everyone has a chance to enjoy while it is hot and ready.

5. Always Be Prepared... For Spills!

Be prepared for spills and drips by opting for a darker buffet cloth that will be more forgiving of game day stains.
