6 Easy Ways to Decorate with Cranberries at Christmas

Dress up your next holiday party easily by incorporating fresh cranberries into your Christmas décor.

With their deep red color and their availability at virtually any grocery store, they may just be the perfect addition to your home this season.

There are so many ways these little beauties can be used!

1. Freeze one or two whole cranberries into ice cubes.

They will make holiday beverages, or the ice bucket at your party, much prettier.

2. Float them in your water pitcher.

They won’t do much for the flavor, but the pop of color sure looks nice on the table!

3. Use them as vase filler.

The easiest way to do this is to use 2 different sized vases. The smaller vase holds the flowers. Put the small vase inside the larger vase, and fill the space between the two vases with cranberries – and viola!

If you don’t have access to nesting vases, fill your vase half full with cranberries and water.  Add your flower arrangement, and then add more cranberries around each side to hide the stems. A little more effort, but definitely worth it!

4. String fresh cranberries and popcorn together into a long garland using a needle and thread or fishing line.

Use a consistent pattern for best results. You can spray your garland with acrylic sealant spray to help it last longer.  String the garland around your Christmas tree, along a stair railing, or a fireplace mantle.

5. Pair them with candles.

Pile some cranberries at the bottom of a hurricane with a white candle. The deep red contrasted with the white candle is striking. Or pair them with a floating candle in a cylindrical glass vase. Many of these lined up together and filled to varying heights with water make a beautiful display along a mantle or down the center of your dinner table.

6. Use cranberries on serving platters.

Nest your holiday cookies among some cranberries. Put some around the outside of your cooked turkey. Their tough skin will prevent them from tainting any food they are near with flavors or colors.

Can you think of other uses for my favorite holiday berry to use in your Christmas decorations?
