Fresh Floral Arrangement with Lemon

When creating a beautiful arrangement for the centerpiece of your dining room table or the entryway to your home, thinking outside the box can take your flower display from simply "pretty" to absolutely stunning.

It's just a matter of using two vases, and displaying an flair from an unexpected medium in any floral arrangement around the base of your display!

By filling the base of your vase with fresh lemon slices, or even candy – you create a fresh take on a simple arrangement that is sure to wow everyone who sees it!

I’ve created an arrangement using beautiful jewel-toned flowers and fresh sliced lemons inside the vase. It is simple to create this in your home with two different sized vases, fresh lemons, and an assortment of flowers of your choice.

For this arrangement I focused on jewel-toned flower colors, offset by the vibrant bright yellow lemons .The rich purple and red hues of Dahlias, Celosia, and Statice look stunning any time of year.

I picked out about five lemons to fill a six inch vase. Use a sharp nice to make 1/2 thick slices.

Here is the trick you’ll really want to keep on hand: The secret to putting any sliced fruit or other decoration in your arrangement is to place a smaller glass inside the vase. Ideally it will be about 1/4 inch narrower. I was shorthanded and grabbed a lovely Sam Adams beer glass and stuck it inside. Perfect alternative and realistic too! Insert lemons in layers until you conceal the inner glass. Fill the inner glass with water.

Create a beautiful hand-tied bouquet with your chosen vibrant flowers., cut so the top of the bouquet rests on the vase, and drop into the inner glass filled halfway with water.

For other options to fill your outer vase and give a little variety – consider a mixture of orange and lemon slices. During the holidays – an assortment of candy adds a festive touch! Lentils or other beans would make a lovely fall arrangement of rich and earthy tones.

Look around your home to see what you can come up with!
