A Procrastinator's Guide to Last Minute Holiday Parties

Are you a procrastinator who leaves everything to the last minute including your holiday party? Have no fear, I've got a few tips to bring the holiday cheer to your home with easy peazy party recipes and last minute decoration tricks that will help you transform your party in no time!

Punch Up Your Party

Here are three easy holiday punch recipes and if you're really running out of time, you don't even need to run out and buy a punch bowl!

The Ginger Cheer

  • 15 ounces Vodka
  • 15 ounces Ginger Ale
  • 6 ounces Cranberry Juice
  • 1.5 ounces Fresh Lime Juice
  • Candied Ginger

Combine all ingredients and serve in a fish bowl. Garnish with candied ginger for extra flare!

Spiced Cider Rum Punch

  • 30 ounces unfiltered apple juice
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 6 ounces rum

Put the apple juice in a large pot with whole cloves, cinnamon sticks and star anise. Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat. Once the juice has cooled, add ice and rum. Garnish with a cinnamon stick. Serve in a mixing bowl with coffee cups on the side.

Instant Eggnog

  • 4 1/2 ounces Bailey’s Hazelnut
  • 3 ounces Rum
  • Nutmeg or pie seasoning

Combine the Bailey’s and rum in a mixing bowl. Pour into a pitcher. Sprinkle a little bit of nutmeg or pie seasoning to top it off and serve!

Canned Foods Are Not The Enemy

Canned foods are a procrastinator’s best friend. Easily prepare appetizers and sides using canned foods.

Try these tasty spreads:

Baked Brie with Cranberry-Orange Relish - Use canned Mandarin oranges and canned cranberry sauce to whip up a quick relish.

Bake brie in the oven and top with the relish before you serve.

Sweet Potato Bar - Use canned sweet potatoes and buy a whole bunch of toppings your family will love to top them with.

Put them in decorative bowls or plates and you're good to go!

Artichoke Dip - Grab some canned artichokes and go to town!

It's a easy dip to make and your guests will never know you went the canned route.

DIY Tabletop Decor

You can make an instant centerpiece by placing ornaments and outdoor materials like twigs and pine cones on a plate.

If you want to showcase a buffet, but don't own many tiered stands, make your own. reuse the cans from your holiday spread or vases and place miss matched plates on top. If they don't feel secure, use a little bit of heavy duty double back tape so it's not permanent!

Don't have a table runner? Use a pretty throw or blanket in place. Your guests will never know the difference!
