Assigning Tasks to Your Bridal Party

Participating in a wedding means exactly that – participating. So ideally, you will select a bridal party that is willing and able to help you organize not only the bridal shower and bachelorette parties, but other critical aspects of the wedding.

Of course, it’s up to you to ask for help.

Planning an event of this magnitude can be overwhelming, but if you are organized and in control, you can and should delegate effectively.

To do that, look carefully at your wedding planner or whatever tool you are utilizing to keep your tasks in check, and assess the areas that you need assistance with.

Next, gather up your gals for wine and cheese or brunch, and go over your needs. Be specific because only by communicating your exact expectations will you be able to obtain the help you really need.

For instance, don’t ask your group of bridesmaids which of them can assist you with the wedding invitations. That’s too general. Instead say you need help with sorting, stuffing and addressing two hundred wedding invitations on so-and-so date and time. Now your friends know exactly what will be required of them.

Another idea is to put together a fill-in-the-blank chart, which you can then hand out to your attendants.

Here also include the specific tasks, plus the date, time and location for each.

Your girls can then check off whichever item they can help with. If you are unsure what to ask for help on, here are a few suggestions:

Researching local florists, bouquet and centerpiece ideas

Shopping for bridal accessories such as headpiece, veil, shoes

Sourcing hotel accommodations for out-of-town guests

                Securing wedding day transportation

                Planning the rehearsal dinner

                Booking spa and/or salon services

Shopping for the bridal gown, bridesmaids dresses

Helping the groom/groomsmen with tuxedo/suit rentals

Packing for move into the newlywed home

Sourcing or creating DIY wedding favors

                Narrowing down the catering menu
