Battleship Inspired Shot Drinking Game

Do you remember Battleship? Not the new movie, but the game we used to play as kids? Well, turns out you can play this classic at parties a la drinking game style!

Apparently, BattleSHOTS has been around for quite some time, but it wasn't until this past weekend that I was introduced to it. I'm not a big shots person so I wasn't entirely into playing it, but sure was fun watching a couple of friends battle it out.

Basically, you play the drinking game same as you would the original -- all you need to play is some cardboard, a white plastic tablecloth, shot glasses and alcohol.

Set Up

Begin by setting up the board itself. We've seen people using cardboard for this, but we like the idea of a plastic tablecloth with the Battleship grid drawn out on it. You'll want to create a 9x9 square grid per player.

Set your tablecloth over the table you'll be playing on. Secure it with some tape.

Label the left most column with the letters A - H and the bottom row with the numbers 1 - 8. The bottom left corner should be blank. Like the board game, this will be how you identify where your ships are located.

Once your tablecloth is complete, put a piece of cardboard between the two grids so players on either side cannot see the other player's grid.

Have opponents sit on a side. Give them a minute to place their "ships" which of course, are shot glasses filled with alcohol.

2 shots are used for submarines, 3 shots for a cruiser, 4 shots for a battleship and 5 for an aircraft carrier. There should be 2 subs and 1 cruiser, battleship and aircraft carrier each.

Game Play

Players take turn calling out points on the grid where they think the other player's ship is hiding. If they guess right, the other player must take a shot.

Players take turns guessing until one person has consumed all of his/her shots.

You can play this game with hard liquor, but if you want them to last more than half a round, we recommend filling glasses with beer of your choice!
