Beat the Breakup Blues with These Ideas

So you thought you had Mr. Right, but as it turns out – his annoying habits and strange ties to his mother proved him to be Mr. All-Wrong. Instead of spending the next few weeks sulking in bed alongside a bowl of Ben & Jerry’s (the only 2 boys that have never steered us wrong), celebrate your newly found freedom and the fact that you know he’ll never find a catch quite like you.

Here are some of our favorite ways to get over the break up blues and help us get back to our fabulous selves!

An Ex-Bonfire

Any lady who has ever had her heart broken will tell you that the first step of getting over someone is ridding your heart and homes of that dreaded ex. And since simply tossing his stuff in the garbage is so 2011, why not get your favorite gal pals together for a friendly bonfire? Instead of wood, we suggest using old photographs of the two of you, teddy bears from your first date, and even furniture you may have bought together.

For the grand finale, why not print out a life size photo of your ex and set that in flames too? Top it off by using the bonfire to indulge in a tasty batch of s’mores . Breaking up has never been sweeter.

Girls Only Day Date

After the fifth date or so, the waves in our hair get a little looser and our makeup gets a little less crisper. Now that you don’t have that drag of an ex-boyfriend rushing you out of the house, you have those extra 15 minutes to make sure you are looking your very best! What better reason than to dress up with your bestie for a night on the town?!

Start in the early morning with a breakfast full of fruits, freshly squeezed OJ, manis and pedis. On the lunch menu is your favorite retail store. You’re on the hunt for the perfect dress and shoes for your date with your best friend!

And trust us, once you hit your favorite bar looking like a million bucks and turning heads, the last thought on your mind will be that dreadful ex.

Girls Night In

There’s nothing quite like a night in with a group of your closest girl friends recounting all things wrong with your ex, and all things right with you. We’ve got the recipe for the perfect night in that will remind you why you don’t need anyone but yourself (and of course your girls) to make your fairy tale dreams come true.

Start off with some light gossip and finger foods. You probably haven’t had a slumber party in ages so chances are, you and girls have a lot of gossip to catch up on. Do this while giving each other facials, manicures, and makeovers!

In the meantime, make sure to mix up some light and fresh cocktails for you and your ladies to enjoy. This Low-cal Watermelon Mojito is a tasty option that will keep you buzzed while making sure those favorite pants of yours still turn heads.

The company of your girls may be enough to get you out of your funk, but we like to pop in some of our favorite chick flicks to really set the mood. “Legally Blonde” is the ultimate break up movie - girl gets dumped by insensitive jerk only to kick his butt at Law School while falling in love with a sweet and swoon-worthy guy? Don’t forget our invite!
