Burlap Valentine's Day Treat Bags

If you're planning to make a batch of some homemade treat for a long list of Valentines in your life, don't just plop it in an ordinary box or bag. This special holiday treat deserves to look as delicious as it tastes!

Valentine cards have evolved a bit since I was a kid. While we still pass out little cards with messages of love and friendship, they're also often accompanied by a sweet homemade treat. Rather than tossing them in a bag or ziploc, craft up these burlap beauties for a wow-worthy gift.

We've got the perfect little bag to tuck a treat in for your Valentine. Whether it's chocolate, movie tickets, brownies or a gift certificate for dinner, this burlap bag is festively fun for a whole lot less! Moreover, it doesn't take long to make and you can make quite a few as far in advance of the holiday as you'd like!

  • Small burlap bags
  • Acrylic paint
  • Sponge applicator
  • Heart shaped rubber stamp
  • Ribbon and silk flowers

Step 1: Slip a piece of cardboard inside the burlap bag. This will protect the paint from going through to the other side of the bag when you stamp it.

Step 2: Apply acrylic paint to the heart stamp with a sponge applicator - don't over apply paint otherwise the design will have a greater risk of getting smudged. Next, press the stamp onto the burlap bag as evenly as possible.

Step 3: Allow the paint to dry thoroughly, then embellish with a coordinating satin ribbon and a few floral sprigs.

Step 4: Fill your bag with a Valentine's Day treat! We recommend wrapping treats in plastic wrap to preserve both their freshness and flavor, but also to protect from damage.

**If you don't have a heart-shaped stamp to use, you can also recreate the look of this Valentine's Day treat bag by creating a heart stencil. Simply cut out a heart shape from a sturdy piece of cardstock or even cardboard, then apply the paint to the burlap bag with the sponge paint brush instead. Be careful to stay within the confines of the stencil!
