Celebrate February Holidays

The month of February may be the shortest of the year, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in reasons to celebrate.

Apart from that pink and red heart filled holiday, Valentine's Day, February acknowledges some pretty impressive celebrations.

All month long February celebrates:

National Chocolate Lovers Month -- This means you can feel free to indulge in all those delectable chocolate treats without the guilt. There is a REAL reason you HAVE to eat them!

National Wedding Month -- June may be the official wedding season, but that means February is crunch time for brides to plan. Make sure you've got your bridal bases covered -- we've got some helpful wedding planning tips!

Black History Month -- February observes the history of the African Diaspora and pays tribute to the many accomplishments, cultural background and history of the African people.

Great American Pie Month -- With such a passion for pie, you can bet your bottom dollar Americans will celebrate pie all month long at least once a year! February marks that celebration and we're taking full advantage with our easy pie recipes.

Special Days in February We're Celebrating:

February 2nd is Groundhog Day

February 3rd begins International Friendship Week. Our friends are such a big part of our lives and make celebrations of any sort that much more special. Celebrate your gang of besties with a batch of cupcakes and girl's only celebration.

February 5th is a favorite of mine - World Nutella Day! This nutty cocoa ingredient is one I like to use often when baking. Apparently, our contributor Coryanne Ettiene feels the same because she came up with some deeelicious Nutella recipes. Make your favorite the 5th!

February 6th means a big celebration across the pond -- Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her anniversary on the throne on this day. 2012 marks her 60th celebration and we thought up a few fun ways for QEII to commemorate this milestone!

February 14th - need we say it? Valentine's Day is one of our favorite holidays - can't you tell? Check out how we're celebrating this day of love with all our fun Valentine's Day ideas.

February 19th is the start of a week long celebration we're waiting for with great anticipation! Waffle Week! No longer just a plain old delicious breakfast, waffles have caught the creative eye of bakers everywhere and are now a main ingredient for dessert. We jumped on this bandwagon with quite the enthusiasm - check out our waffle dessert ideas!

February 20th celebrates President's Day, a national holiday here in the US. Our crafty contributor Emily DiRienzo hosted a theme party just in honor of the day and we're loving all her easy and cute ideas.

Don't party too hard though, because February 21st marks Fat Tuesday this year, more commonly referred to as Mardi Gras and you'll need the energy to celebrate this colorful holiday.

Break out your blender and celebrate National Margarita Day on February 22nd. Whip up one of our favorite margarita recipes in honor of this national holiday.

After so many days of celebrating, we're taking a few days off to recoup. But we have to finish out February 2012 with a big party since its Leap Year! After all, February 29th only comes once every four years, so it's best to make it count.

Other February Celebrations

Though not officially named Football Month, we're thinking February deserves the title since it's home to the biggest game of the year - Super Bowl! Between the game and food, we're big fans of this party, falling on Sunday, February 5th this year.

And let's not forget all those Award Show parties ! January may officially start the season, but February hosts the biggest and brightest nights, including the Grammy Awards, Sunday February 12th, and the Academy Awards (Oscars) on Sunday, February 26th.
