8 Festive Winter Olympics Cocktails

In just a few short weeks, we will once again marvel at the amazing Olympic abilities of the world's best athletes. The 2014 Winter Olympics kick off in Sochi on February 7th and, while most of us would LOVE to be there in person to cheer them on, you can still celebrate right at home. If you are planning a party to watch the festivities, why not serve one of these amazing cocktails?

  • Go for the gold! The Olympic gold medal is obviously the most coveted award at the games and this cocktail will be the star of the party. Follow this recipe from blogged Heather Christo to whip up your very own golden cocktails. Garnish with the lemon wedge and add a shake of edible gold glitter for the perfect finishing touch.
  • My next few cocktail suggestions have been inspired by the colors of the 5 olympic rings, the ultimate symbol of unity. First up is blue! This Icy Blue Curacao Cocktail not only looks beautiful, it's peppermint ingredient makes this the perfect wintertime drink option. Sit back, watch some skiing events and enjoy this delicious drink!
  • How about a Hot Gingersnap Cocktail Hot Gingersnap Cocktail to warm up your guests? It is the winter after all! This cocktail could easily stand in as the yellow olympic ring, with it's warm hue and delicious ingredients. The recipe even calls for a honey and brown sugar garnish, which is sure to make for one great party drink.
  • Next up is the middle Olympic ring, which is the color black. Mix up this Black Licorice Delight cocktail with just a few simple ingredients and black food coloring. It's striking color and delicious blackcurrant taste are sure to please.
  • How about a delicious Green Apple Ginger Martini to represent the green ring?! With ingredients that include ginger infused vodka, green apple lime juice and honey, who wouldn't want to enjoy this drink while watching the parade of nations?
  • Last but not least is the red Olympic ring. This Rosemary Infused Cocktail was originally created as a holiday drink, but I think it would be great all winter long. Add some rosemary simple syrup, cranberry grape juice and vodka, garnish with a rosemary spring and you are good to go!
  • Go team USA! Whether your favorite event is ice skating, hockey, or hey, even curling, this patriotic cocktail will certainly show your national pride and it's delicious to boot. Create this layered red and blue shooter with pop rocks candy for an extra impressive drink.
  • This list wouldn't be complete without including a drink famously associated with this year's host country; the white russian. This delicious drink features Kahlua, vodka and espresso - what more could you ask for! If you are looking for an even MORE adventurous option, try creating these white russian jello shots.
