College Theme Parties

College kids will take pretty much any excuse to party. Thirsty Thursday is a weekly holiday, as is Wine Wednesday and Drunken Fridays.

And sure, the weekly kegger and next-day hangover is fun, but why not mix things up a little with a fun theme party to really get the barely-legal students excited?

Here are some of our favorite college theme parties that are wild enough to be voted party of the year and trendy enough for even the coolest kids to attend.

Solo “Yolo” – When you say the word solo, most college students rush to grab you an infamous red cup. Take this college party staple and incorporate it into your décor! We’re talking a cup stacking centerpiece and banner made of hanging red cups. For the dessert? Try this fabulous red solo cup cupcake, a popular entry in our cupcake crown contest!

And Drake’s coined term “yolo” is pretty much the anthem of the year. So be sure to turn the volume up to 10 when his song “The Motto” comes on.

Greek party – College life can be summed up in a few words: studying, sleeping, eating, drinking, and Greek life. And while the original Greeks didn’t have dorms or kegs, they had togas and grapes.

Celebrate the origin of your favorite fraternity or sorority with a classic toga party.  Instead of jungle juice, serve booze infused fruits. And ladies are going to love wearing sandals and gladiators instead of hard-to-walk-in heels.

Dead Celebrity – Since Tupac’s ressurection at Coachella, many have been wondering which celebrity is going to come back to life next. Host a dead celebrity party and let your guests dress up as their favorite celeb beyond the grave.  Extra points for whoever stays in character the longest!

End of the world Party – The Mayans sure do know how to stir things up! While we’re hoping 2012 isn’t really the end of the world, post-apocalyptic parties are all the rage.  Set the room up as a graveyard and have your guests dress up in their living-dead best. Zombies never go out of style.

Beard and Mustache Party – Plan this one ahead of time to give the men time to grow the wildiest bushy beard possible. But the men don’t have to have all the fun! Provide the ladies of the house with some fun stick on staches or costume beards for a fun and memorable event! You can either purchase them at your local party store or save some cash and make them yourself with this fun DIY. Make the event even more festive by hanging mustache themed decorations around the room!

Highlighter – Since most college students prefer to just roll out of bed and go out, this party is the perfect lazy student theme. Each guests comes sporting a plain white tee and lets their classmates use it as a canvas to write messages and draw pictures. And previous experience has proven that the pictures only get better with booze!

White Trash Party – All you need to make this party a hit is some country tunes, plaid décor, and of course lots of beer. Guests come dressed in their white trash best ready for night of hootin, howlin, and causing ruckus.

ABC party – As any class college student knows, ABC stands for anything but clothes. Some choose to come in their late night ensembles, while others choose to make outfits out of less conventional material. Duct Tape mini skirt anyone?

Tropical Luau – Luaus never go out of style. Maybe it’s the fun and colorful décor that is so readily available, or maybe it’s because it’s almost impossible to say no to a sweet and creamy pina colada.

Turn your college dorm into a tropical paradise with a few fake trees and relaxing music. Coconut bras and leis will help your guests get in the luau mood, and you can’t go wrong with a drink topped with a mini umbrella. And since this is a college party after all, serve up these tasty pina colada jell-o shots instead of the original!
