Dino Wreath Tutorial for a Boys Birthday

I’m planning a dinosaur birthday party for my dinosaur obsessed son and came up with this spray painted dino wreath as a fun decoration to hang. I’ve done the typical balloon wreath and even the yarn wreath, but I wanted to do something more unique for this party and this wreath is really perfect for the dino theme as well as a boy's birthday.

I found a bunch of miniature dinosaurs in bulk on EBay and they were my inspiration for this wreath. If you like the multi-colored look, you could just spray paint the wreath or cover it in burlap before adding the dinosaurs. I stuck to my color scheme and spray painted the entire wreath a dark green. I love how you have to really look up close to tell that they are dinosaurs. It's a little more subtle and will allow me to keep this wreath hanging around even after the party.

Try personalizing your mini bunting banner in the center with your birthday boy's name, or, if you prefer something a bit more, "happy birthday".

Styrofoam Wreath Form

Plastic Miniature Dino Toys

Green Spray Paint

Orange Cardstock

Craft Glue

Hot Glue

Soda Tab

Step 1: Attach the miniature dino toys around the Styrofoam wreath using a hot glue gun. Make sure to hold the dino in place for a few seconds to ensure it's secured to the foam form.

Step 2: Once all your dinos are attached and have set, head outside to a well ventilated area and spray paint the entire wreath green. Spray 5-8 light coats and allow the wreath to dry completely in between coats until the entire wreath is covered evenly.

Step 3: To dress up and personalize, cut miniature bunting flags out of burlap and attach to a piece of string using craft glue. Write in your guest of honor's name if desired on the flags, and then attach to the wreath using pins or glue.

Step 4: Hot glue a soda tab to the back of the wreath for hanging purposes.
