DIY Seashell Tea Light Favor
For a beach themed bridal shower or engagement party, send guests home with these adorable DIY seashell tea light favors.
A beach-themed bridal shower is perfect for a fun and carefree bride. It’s also completely gender-neutral, so you can use it for a couples’ shower too. Sand volleyball, tropical cocktails, sun, relaxing music what’s not to love?
For a unique favor idea, consider theses seashell tea light candles. When seashells are painted a solid color, they take on a more modern look. Paired with a tea light candle in a tropical scent, they make a great favor that guests will love to take home with them. You can create these candles without any special candle-making equipment. Here’s how to do it.
- Large clam or oyster seashells
- Spray primer
- Gold spray paint (or any color of choice)
- Tea light candles
- White cardstock paper
- Gold metallic pen
- Twine or string
Step 1: Collect or purchase large clam or oyster seashells. Clean and dry the shells, if necessary. Spray both sides of each shell with one coat of spray primer before spray painting them metallic gold (or any color of choice).
Step 2: Purchase tea light candles in a color to suit your theme. Remove them from their metal containers, then remove the wick as well. Place the wick-less candle wax in the center of each upside-down seashell.
Step 3: Use foil to protect a baking sheet before filling it with the seashells and their candles. Heat oven to 200 degrees F, then bake the seashell candles for 10 minutes, or until all the wax has melted.
Step 4: Slowly remove the tray of seashells from the oven, being careful to not spill the wax. Place one of the original wicks in the center of the melted wax in each candle and let them set.
Step 5: Once the wax has hardened, trim the wicks to about ¼”.
Step 6: For “thank you” tags, cut out small circles of cardstock and punch a hold through them before writing your message.
Step 7: Tie twine or string around each favor and attach the thank you tag ;and now you have a beachy keen party favor guests will love!
