DIY Burlap & Lace Flower Girl Bucket

In keeping with the natural feel of this burlap and lace wedding, I designed an adorable little bucket for the flower girl to carry her flower petals in.

Rather than a traditional flower girl's basket, this bucket serves as the perfect accessory to incorporate the flower girl into the burlap and lace theme. It's adorned with a burlap band and some sweet white lace accents and bows.

The charm of a burlap-embellished bucket is seriously overrated! It adds that rustic charm that can turn any old table into a romantic scene from a fairy tale. Paired with the burlap and lace pew bows, this flower girl bucket will have your guests talking before they even leave the ceremony!

Full of country charm and whimsy, the only accessory the bucket is missing is a pint-sized young lady in a princess dress to really bring this decoration together. This little gal is going to look adorable walking down the aisle!

  • Small galvanized metal bucket
  • 2 inch width piece of burlap to wrap around the perimeter of the bucket
  • White organza ribbon
  • White lace ribbon
  • Embellishment or silk flower
  • Mod Podge
  • Hot glue

Step 1: Apply Mod Podge to the strip of burlap and press into place on the bucket.  Hold it in place with your fingers for a couple of minutes until it is adhered and doesn't slide.

Step 2: Apply another layer of Mod Podge over the outside of the burlap--dabbing it with a sponge applicator.  Let it dry completely.

Step 3: Embellish the band of burlap with a lacey flower.  Attach the flower with hot glue.

Step 4: Make a florist bow from the organza ribbon.  Add some lengths of organza and lace ribbon to the bow for streamers.

Step 5: Tie the finished bow to the handle of the bucket.

Just imagine how precious your sweet flower girl will look carrying this charming DIY burlap and lace bucket idea. You're going to want to make sure your camera battery is charged and ready to go!
