DIY Campfire Skewers: 5 Easy & Creative Ways to 'Glamp' Up Your Sticks

Everyone loves hunting for campfire sticks, especially when you are out looking for firewood. But when all the sticks look them same, it is hard to figure out which stick is which, especially when you are using store bought skewers.

And when you have small children, nothing ends a squabble over a stick easier than a DIY personalized campfire stick. Just be careful to keep the personalized and painted end away from the fire at all times (paint, ribbon, Mod Podge, etc. are all very flammable!).

1. Ribbons.  Ribbons tied to the end of the skewer for a bright finish is great for a feminine touch that little girls will love; just be sure that the ribbons do not dangle down as they may cause a fire hazard.

2. Decorate with Paint.  Paint pens are great for adding names or personal touches either on their own or added to another decorative element.

3. Feathers.  A bundle of brightly colored craft feathers and a glue pen are great for embracing the natural element that boys will love; just be sure that the feathers points are soft to avoid hand injury.

4. Molding Clay.  If time is on your side, adding colored molding clay to a handle and allowing it to dry is a great way to add a comfortable decorative handle for sticks found while gathering wood.

5. Paper.  With enough notice, cutting out themed paper and applying it with Mod Podge is a great way to accent store bought skewers for a polished DIY look.
