Supplies
  • Small glass jars
  • Water-based paint
  • Newspaper
Directions

Soak jars in soapy water for a few hours to remove any odor or residue that may be left over. Using a rough sponge and hot water scrape off any labels or ink; allow jars to dry thoroughly before attempting to paint.

In a shallow bowl or container pour your paint so that it is about an inch deep, stirring out any bubbles or impurities that may exist. Dip the bottom of a jar into paint and gently turn the jar at a slight angle so that the paint begins to climb up the side of the glass. Keep rolling the jar in the paint until it the glass is completely coated about half to a quarter of the way up.

Once glass is coated to your liking place right side up on a few sheets to dry. Allow sides to dry thoroughly before flipping over to prevent paint drips. Once dry flip over to let the bottom dry. Drying time varies by paint and the size of your jars, but most water-based paints will be fully dry in about four hours.
