DIY Fall Centerpieces from Nature

Ah, the fresh smell of an autumn breeze. Once the dog days of summer start dwindling down, we begin to get excited for all that fall has to offer. Growing up with a big yard in the south, my family always created fun and festive autumnal centerpieces using items from around the yard.

We would collect colorful leaves and gourds and place them in the center of our living room table. To this day I just love a bright and seasonal centerpiece. We have gathered some of our favorite autumnal centerpieces that are completely DIY and absolutely gorgeous!

Wheatgrass Centerpiece

This wheat centerpiece is so festive yet very simple to make. In just a few steps you can create this wonderful centerpiece. The neutral wheat color makes it easy to mix and match with other fun autumnal colors.

Pair this with a few small pumpkins or gourds for the perfect fall dinnertime centerpiece.

Butternut Squash Vase

The butternut squash vase is a standout piece. To create this simply beautiful vase you will need to find a squash that will stand up right on it's own. Once you do this, just hollow out the inside and fill with colorful flowers of your choice.

I like that the color of the squash is neutral enough to really go with any flower scheme.

Pumpkin with Candle

Nothing says fall like pumpkins! This pumpkin candle craft from Love Rocks is simple to create but really stands out. Just hollow out the top of a pumpkin and place a votive candle inside. Surround the candle with extra fall foliage for extra texture and dimension.

We love that you can use any sized pumpkin paired with the appropriate sized candle for a festive look on any table in your home.

Paint Dipped Pinecones

Even the most simple centerpieces can be eye popping and beautiful. These paint dipped pinecones from Factory Direct Craft are very simple to make. Within a bowl or gathering of pinecones, dip several pinecones in a paint of your choice.

Using white paint allows the pinecones to pop. We also love how this centerpiece can be carried over into winter as well.

Painted Acorns

There are plenty of acorns laying around during the fall. Grab a bunch, and paint them with bright colors. Display them in a fun themed bowl or in some glass vases for a truly unique centerpiece.

Twig Centerpiece

Another piece of nature just laying around your yard, toss a handful of twigs into little glass jars for a very simple centerpiece. You can also mix them up a bit and make some with leaves, and some with twigs.

Corn Wrapped Candles

via indulgy.com

We all know with the fall comes corn, and lots of it. Whether it’s a corn maze, or just a side dish at the dinner table this veggie is more than welcome on our table during this season. Grab some dried out pieces and twine to make this center piece. This one is around a candle, but with creativity like ours the possibilities are endless. We’re thinking about wrapping some corn around giant pumpkins…

Tree Stumps

The fall comes with tons of rustic looking décor. These tree stumps (really just large branches cut evenly on the top and bottom) can be filled with flowers or candles like the above.

Want to spruce it up even more? Throw in some fall foliage leaves or sunflowers are my favorite!
