DIY Floral Centerpiece for a Fall Wedding
For your fall party or wedding, create a natural and elegant centerpiece with this DIY floral arrangement idea.
This romantic fall floral arrangement is designed to cascade over the edges of a DIY wooden box centerpiece. It’s a unique arrangement with lace and white flowers that scream “wedding,” combined with rustic pine cones and other seed pods to bring in seasonal elements.
You can use fabric flowers to make these well ahead of time for your wedding, or put everything together besides the florals and add fresh pieces shortly before the big day.
- DIY wooden box
- Floral foam
- Sheet moss
- Lace trim
- Magnolia seed pods
- Small pine cones
- Sweet gum seed pods
- Gold and silver spray paint
- Gold glitter (optional)
- White flowers, fabric or fresh
Step 1: If you’re using any fresh flowers or foliage, soak some floral foam bricks in water and then place them inside the wooden box.
Step 2: Gather magnolia seed pods, mini pine cones, and sweet gum seed pods. If you are collecting these outdoors rather than purchasing them, be sure to bake them in an oven first to clean them. In a well-ventilated area, spray paint the pine cones silver, and the sweet gum seed pods gold. I also added gold glitter to the sweet gum seed pods for some sparkle!
Step 3: Tear off some pieces of sheet moss and lay them across the box, draping some over the edges.
Step 4: Begin to fill the box with the magnolia seed pods. Then use a long strip of lace trim to intermix amongst the seed pods, draping some off the box edges as well.
Step 5: Arrange large white flowers throughout the piece. For fresh flowers, snip them to size and stick them into the floral foam so they stay fresh. If you’d like to use any fresh foliage, you can do this now as well. In place of real flowers, I used fabric flowers, which is another option if you’re interested in making the centerpieces well ahead of the wedding.
Step 6: Fill in the centerpiece with the silver pine cones and the gold sweet gum seed pods. Add more moss pieces to cover any gaps in the arrangement.
Step 7: This fall floral centerpiece is designed for a DIY wooden box, and a burlap and lace table runner completes the tablescape. It also looks great with other DIY fall wedding ideas like a moss monogram and tree branch candleholders.
