DIY Gold Paint Crafts

A great centerpiece accents and heightens the beauty of your table setting, and ideally doesn’t overwhelm the overall feel of your table.

The easiest way to make a centerpiece look high-end is to focus mainly on monochromatic hues, and accent it with pops of color.

You can make your own beautiful table setting right at home by repurposing glass bottles, adding a spot of paint, and picking up flowers from your own garden or your local grocery store!

We used Gold Metallic Paint by Deco Art to paint our bottles. There are beautiful flecks of gold within the paint, giving it a multi-tonal shine and a beautiful look and texture once it dries.

When choosing your bottles, try to vary the sizes and shapes so that it is not all one uniform shape and height. Liquor bottles, wine bottles, and mason jars all make great choices.

Here are our step-by-step instructions.

  • 3-7 glass bottles of varying size
  • 1 bottle gold acrylic paint
  • 1 Sponge brush
  • White flowers like roses, baby’s breath, pom poms, or carnations
  • 1 color of any flower of your choice to be your ‘accent’ color

Step 1: Take your clean, and dried glass bottle and paint with sponge dipped in acrylic paint. If there are logos or labels still on your bottle - paint those with 1 coast first. Let them dry for at least 10-15 minutes before returning to put a second coat on the bottle.

Step 2: Depending on the desired opacity, paint 1-3 coats on each bottle.

Step 3: Allow bottles to dry for  a few hours. When dry, fill with water and flowers. We like arranging the varied heights side by side to intrigue the eye.

In this arrangement for a 1920’s themed ‘Speakeasy Party’ we used white roses and yellow wax flowers.
