A Sophisticated New Year's Eve: Dazzling DIY Gold Champagne Bottles

Bottles of bubbly are an essential part of a New Year's Eve celebration. That all important toast at the stroke of midnight just wouldn't be the same without that little bit of effervescence!

If you're entertaining a crowd, you might not be able to afford cases and cases of the really good stuff. Perhaps not even the moderately good stuff. Ok, maybe you’re serving the cheapest champagne you could possibly find for that toast for forty people and find yourself really really wanting to hide that label so you don’t have to admit to your cheapness. It’s ok - we’ve all been there!

With this glittery bottle treatment, people won’t care about what is in the bottle, because the bottle itself is so spectacular. They’ll be talking about what a fantastic hostess you are for treating them to such opulence they will forget about the unpalatable sparkling wine that is hiding inside.

Of course, there will be some people using this tutorial that just want really pretty bottles to put on their table. Good for them! I’ll admit to making up a few of those myself just to look at. Use this glittering method on empty bottles or vases for some pretty fabulous décor pieces.

Make sure you put down a drop cloth or a big piece of paper before starting this project, or this will be one of those glittery DIY projects that just keeps on giving…glitter clean-up for years!

  • Bottle
  • Spray glue
  • Gold fine glitter
  • Gold large glitter

Step 1: Lightly spray the bottle on one side with the spray glue without reaching all the way to the neck of the bottle. Quickly sprinkle the fine glitter over the glue.

Step 2: Twist the bottle around, being careful not to let it touch the paper and rub off the fresh glue. Spray the rest of the bottle and add glitter until the bottle is covered.
