DIY Halloween Treat Mason Jars

Mason jars have taken over the entertaining world in the last few months, and while we're happy with thedelicious desserts in a jar we've stuffed them with, the refreshing cocktails we've mixed up in them and the crafty mason jar projects we've enjoyed on fine summer days, we're ready to dress up our mason jars for Halloween.

We've already turned a few of our mason jars into adorably spooky Halloween luminary decorations and now we're getting crafty with turning them into treat holders for our favorite family and friends.

Below, we've outlined two basic mason jar Halloween projects to turn classic glass holders into spectacularly spooky treat baskets.

DIY Monster Mason Jar Halloween Treat Holder

Spook and delight your favorite ghouls with this simple, but clever mason jar.

Smooth Mason Jar
Lime green acrylic paint--gloss finish
sponge applicator
black felt
black peel & stick felt
muslin, gauze or other piece of fabric material
permanent black marker

Step 1: Paint the outside of the jar with lime green gloss paint.  Allow it to dry completely and then add 2 more coats, allowing drying time between each coat of paint. Paint the jar lid as well.

Step 2: Cut the monster's eye, mouth,  and eye patch from a piece of the black peel & stick felt. Cut the monster's feet from a regular piece of black felt.

Step 3: Adhere the facial features to the front of the jar and add the scar on the monster's forehead with a permanent black marker.

Step 4: Place the lid on the jar and then tie a piece of muslin or gauze to the top of the jar to give the monster a bandana

DIY Black Cat Candy Jar

Simpler than our monster mason jar, this black cat treat holder is just as festive and really shows off your scrumptious and spooky Halloween treats.

Smooth Mason Jars
Halloween Stickers
1/2 yard black grosgrain ribbon
black and orange paper pieces, circle punches, Halloween stamp

Step 1: Wash and dry the jars on the inside and out.

Step 2: Adhere Halloween stickers to the front of the jar and decorate the top of the lid with circular pieces of paper and a Halloween stamp or sticker.

Step 3: Adhere black grosgrain ribbon around the edge of the jar lid and tie a bow with the ribbon and adhere to the lid.

Step 4: Fill the jar with a single color of candy and pop the lid on.
