DIY Holiday Hostess Gift: Handmade Ornaments

A handmade ornament to hang on the tree is a thoughtful gift for your holiday hostess.

Don't just pick one up from the store though - get crafty and make a handmade decoration that's custom designed to fit their personality and style.

Mod Podge Book Paper Ornaments

I created an ornament for my friend who always plays host to the book club gatherings I attend with friends. Covering a paper mache' form with pages from an old book was the perfect way to craft an ornament and gift that was ideal for my book club hostess.

I purchased a paper mache' apple form from the craft store and then, I used torn scraps of paper from an old book that were adhered to the apple shape with Mod Podge. I applied a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the paper scraps as well to ensure they were protected and durable.

When the ornament had dried, I then attached a gold wire hanger on the stem of the apple and then tied it with a red satin ribbon. A green leaf was cut from tag paper and stamped with a merry message for my favorite book club hostess.
