DIY Jeweled Flower Vase Decoration

Every elegant table has a centerpiece – add some glamor to your dinner party table with this pretty custom vase.

Fill it with your favorite flowers when you're finished and you've got an instant decoration for the everyday and every special occasion, too!

acrylic faux jewels – assorted
glue gun and hot glue sticks
empty can, label removed
satin ribbon

Step 1: Clean and dry your empty can. Depending on the size of floral arrangement you’d like, you can use smaller or larger cans -- you can also do several small arrangements by making multiple vases.

Starting at the bottom of the can, add hot glue to the inside of your ribbon end and affix it to the bottom of the can just above the lip. Adding glue as you go, wrap your ribbon around the base until you reach your starting point. (As always, use caution when working with hot glue.)

Add an extra inch to the end and trim. Add a strip of hot glue to the end of the ribbon and fold it inwards to hide the raw edge. Glue the end down against the can.

Repeat until you cover your entire can, overlapping each layer slightly. If desired you can cover up these flaps with a vertical strip of ribbon, folding the ends per above directions. (If you do this you do not have to fold over the flaps for each horizontal strip, as the raw edges will be covered.)

Step 2:  Select the arrangement of jewels you’d like to use. Smaller jewels work best on the rounded edge of the can but larger ones can be bold too - they just require a bit of an extra effort. If you’re making several vases, feel free to make them all one color to tie your look together, or mix things up for a more eclectic arrangement.

Add a drop of hot glue to your first jewel and press it to the top of your can. Continue with each jewel in your pattern along the top rim, or in any pattern you desire.

Step 3: Add flowers, feathers, or anything you’d like to adorn your table. You can reuse it after the party to hold kitchen implements, beauty brushes, or anything you’d like!
