DIY Wine Cork Memory Wreath Decoration

This DIY craft idea cleverly incorporates wine corks into a decoration for my home that celebrates my trip to Italy

Follow the steps below to display collected corks from a special trip in the form of a small wreath you can hang almost anywhere. The number of corks you have will determine the size -- ten corks makes a wreath that’s approximately 6 inches in diameter. This is also a great way to display corks saved from a wedding, holiday party or college graduation party.

Supplies
  • Wine corks
  • Natural grapevine wire
  • Craft wire
  • Hot glue
  • Card Stock
  • Watercolor paint or a marker
  • Yarn or ribbon
Directions

Lay the corks in a circle with the sides of the bases touching (it will resemble a starburst shape). This will determine the size of the wreath.

Shape the grapevine into a hoop slightly smaller than your cork circle. Cut off the excess vine with scissors and twist a couple of pieces of craft wire around the grapevine to hold the wreath together.

Hot glue the wine corks to the grapevine in a circle with the bases touching and the tops extending past the grapevine slightly. Allow the glue to set.

Optional: Cut a small circle out of a piece of card stock; you can trace around a shot glass or a pill bottle cap as a guide.

Write the travel location or event and the year on the circle. I used brown watercolor paint and a fine-tipped brush, but a marker works well, too.

Cut a 2-inch piece of craft wire.

Loop the wire through the grapevine at the top of the inner part of the wreath. Hot glue the back of the round label to the ends of the wire.

Cut a 6-inch piece of yarn or ribbon. Loop it through the grapevine at the top of the wreath. Tie the ends in a double knot to make a hanger.
