Easy Burlap Monogram Decoration

Monograms are all the rage, and especially fitting for a wedding. They add an extra personalized touch to the occasion which guests will surely remember.

I covered a large wooden letter with burlap for this special bride and groom and then embellished it to match the rest of their wedding decor. It was very inexpensive to make, but makes a big statement.

  • 13-inch wooden letter
  • Burlap fabric
  • Mod Podge
  • Satin ribbon
  • Silk rose
  • Hot glue
  • Silk ivy

Step 1: Trace the wooden letter onto the burlap fabric.

Step 2: Cut out the burlap letter.  Cut a bit outside the edges, as the burlap tends to pull up a bit after it's dampened with the Mod Podge.

Step 3: Apply Mod Podge to the face of the wooden letter and lay the burlap cutout over it. Position the fabric to fit the letter and press in place.   Apply another coat of Mod Podge over the top of the burlap.  Let dry completely.

Step 4: When the burlap is completely dry, clean up the edges and corners of the letter with sharp scissors and a straight-edge razor.

Step 5: Tie a piece of satin ribbon around the letter and slip a piece of ivy under it. Attach a silk rose to the ribbon with hot glue.

These elegant pine cone topiary place cards are the perfect addition to any fall or winter wedding. They not only add a touch of natural charm to the table, but are easy to make, too. Use fresh pine cones to add that evergreen scent to your tables, or use craft pine cones for an unscented experience.

Using your wedding theme colors, create monogram letter decorations of the last-name of the evening. You can spread them throughout the room to add a pop of color as well as a personalized touch. The best part? They can be used after the event to help decorate the home!
