Easy Candy Corn Hat Halloween Craft

When you think of Halloween, candy corn naturally comes to mind. It’s the quintessential Halloween candy both adults and kids all seem to love! Using the classic candy as your inspiration, try this crafty project with your kids as the days until Halloween wind down.

Here’s a fun toddler Halloween craft that gives your child a chance to improve hand and eye coordination while strengthening fine motor skills and writing skills through the activities of cutting, crumbling, and pasting tissue paper.

It's a mess-free craft that's simple enough, but lots of fun and the perfect way to celebrate the days leading up to the Halloween holiday. Your child will enjoy the activity and you will too - thanks to the minimal mess!

  • 1 party hat
  • 1 sheet of white tissue paper
  • 2 sheets of orange tissue paper
  • 1 sheets of yellow tissue paper
  • Glue stick
  • Kid – Safe Scissors

Step 1: Fold up the tissue paper and ask your child to cut it into 1 inch x 2 inch strips (or kids can also tear); size is approximate.

Step 2: Crumble the tissue paper into small balls, but don't over compress. You want them bunched, but fluffy.

Step 3: Start with the middle of your party hat - apply glue to the hat and start adding orange paper crumbles. A glue stick will keep this craft mess free and is sturdy enough to hold tissue paper to the hat.

The orange section should be larger than the yellow and white sections, just like it is on a piece of candy corn. Once your orange layer is complete, apply white tissue paper to the top of the hat. Finally apply yellow tissue paper to the bottom of the hat. It's good to do it this way as it helps put the layers into perspective.

Step 4: Now you have a 3-D candy corn display that can be used as a centerpiece or can be worn as a Halloween party hat. If you do not want to use as a hat, simply remove the elastic band with a scissor and use as a centerpiece or decoration.

Try these other fun candy-corn activities with your kids .
