Easy DIY Halloween Treat Bags for Kids

Impress your Halloween party guests with these stenciled treat bags. All you need to make these Halloween crafts is a little paint and baker’s twine to jazz up some boring paper treat sacks.

Fill your bags with candy corn or other favorite Halloween treats and hand them out as edible party favors. They’d look great displayed on a dessert table. You could also fill these treat sacks with candy or trinkets and hand them out to trick or treaters on Halloween night.

I plan on making more of these festive treat bags for an upcoming Halloween play date party I’m planning. I’ll be making candy popcorn to fill the bags. Just add a few sprinkles of edible food dust to regular popcorn and shake, something a little healthier than candy for the kiddos so they aren’t bouncing off the walls. I might also make spooky mac and cheese bites for the party.

  • Halloween Stencils
  • Kraft Treat Bags
  • Black Baker’s Twine
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • Orange Acrylic Paint
  • Stencil Brushes
  • Painters Tape
  • Double Hole Punch

Step 1: Use painters tape to attach Halloween stencil to the bottom of the kraft treat bag or you can hold in place without tape if you are a stenciling pro.

Use a stencil brush to dab black or orange paint onto the bag, through the stencil. Allow paint to dry.

Step 2: Fold treat bag down, about an inch from the top. Using a double hole puncher, punch holes through all of the bag layers 1/2 an inch from the top.

Step 3: Place candy and treats inside of the bag. Loop baker’s twine through the punched holes and secure with a bow.
