Glam Emmy Awards Party Checklist
If you didn't get invited to the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 22 (don't worry, we didn't either), then the next best thing to donning a designer gown and walking the red carpet is hosting a glamorous Emmys watch party to cheer for your favorite actors and shows.
Incorporate these simple and fun techniques into your Emmy watch party for a fun and glitzy night that will make you feel like you're walking the red carpet!
DIY Glitter Decor
While the A-listers at the Emmys will be enjoying luxury swag and flashing bulbs on the red carpet, you can also include some easy DIY glam into your party decor with just some glitter. Make some glitzy candle votives, flower vases and mason jars to serve cocktails. It will for sure set the mood, and make your party stand out!
Popcorn: Think Outside the Box
A watch party isn't complete without popcorn, so make sure you make some for your guests. Serve them in decorative containers, and instead of making traditional microwave popcorn, try our recipe for spicy popcorn or make this easy caramel popcorn.
To keep the food on the lighter (but still delicious) side, serve some small appetizers. We love this coconut shrimp with spiked dipping sauce. The vodka adds a bit of a kick to the sauce, and the shrimp is the perfect finger food for you and your guests.
Mad Men Menu Ideas
The AMC drama "Mad Men," and sexy leading man Jon Hamm are both nominated again for Emmys, and it's always a good idea to take a party cue from the glamorous decade. With the hit TV show heading into its final seasons, pay homage to the retro drama with these "Mad Men" menu and cocktail ideas. The party's not complete without a dry martini!
Emmys Grey Goose Cocktail
Speaking of cocktails, the top-shelf vodka brand Grey Goose is an official sponsor of the awards show. Sip on a libation good enough for the stars with our recipe for a Tickled Pink cocktail. And don't be afraid to indulge in a couple drinks-- you don't have to worry about giving an acceptance speech!
Desserts with Glitz and Glam
Add a "wow" factor to your dessert tray with some edible glitter! It makes a fabulous topper on icing for cupcakes and cookies, and can even be sprinkled on the top of drinks or to rim a cocktail glass. You may not be taking home a golden trophy, but we think cupcakes with gold flakes are probably the next best thing.
