Shawn's Holiday White Cosmo Recipe

Don't just mix up the regular ol' cosmopolitan. It's the holidays - make it special! Shawn recommends this classy and chic white version to go with your theme. It's just as tasty, a bit unexpected and still basic and easy to make.

Ingredients

2 parts vodka
1 part triple sec
2 parts white cranberry juice
Edible white glitter to rim the glass

Directions

Shake all the ingredients (except the glitter - rim the martini glass with that!) up in a cocktail shaker. Strain into your martini glass and enjoy!

Pair your cocktail with Shawn's easy apps - spiced holiday nuts and trail mix tossed in a bit of butter and brown sugar.

Shawn's Expert Tips for New Year's Eve and the Holidays

Always budget-conscious, Shawn recommends repurposing what you've already got and reusing it in a new way.

Holiday Decor Revamped

Have leftover baking decorations like white glitter? Use it to fill stemware you already have and place a votive candle in the center. Cluster glasses of assorted sizes and shapes together for an instant centerpiece.

Shawn ordered a wreath from 1-800-Flowers.com for his holiday decor then got creative with working it into his New Year's Eve decor. He kept the gorgeous glittered pine cones on the wreath, but removed the ribbon and red and gold ornaments.

Next, Shawn worked in a bit of spare silver ornaments, baby's breath and a new bow to give it a wintery look that's still festive.

Avoid Stress!

As host, your guests attitude and good time is dependent on your mood and enjoyment. If you're stressed out and upset, chances are they will be, too. But, same is said if you're having fun.

To avoid the holiday stress Shawn recommends keeping a few things in mind:

1. Have Fun!

That's what the holidays are all about. If something gets forgotten and burns in the oven - forget it. No one will care and you'll figure out an alternative.

2. Organize your Time

There's just one week to take your Christmas home into the new year. To keep planning efficient and effective, manage your time. Make out a list of to-do's and optimize when things are getting done. For instance, designate Monday evening to repurposing your wreath; Tuesday to cleaning; Wednesday to centerpiece creation, etc.

Get the kids involved however you can - they can always help fill up the glasses with sugar!

And remember, you have a week. Try to be realistic with what you can manage. New Year's Eve at home can be chic while still keeping things casual and easy!

Happy New Year!
