Add a Touch of Rustic Autumn Decor with these DIY Leaf Projects

The leaves are starting to fall, which means one thing, let the raking begin. We decided that instead of turning out leaves over and bagging them up, why not turn them into something beautiful to decorate our houses? Head outside and grab handfuls of fallen leaves and get crafting!

Glitter Garland

We’re all about this DIY Glitter Leaf Garland, because it's so pretty, and also pretty simple! Using metallic glitter in your favorite fall shades and mod podge, you'll have a show-stopping piece of autumn decor that will instantly liven up your space. Add some more glamour with metallic spray paint.

Place Cards

Set your table with these chic gold leaves as your place cards. Just paint leaves in the color of your choice (we love these gold ones from the Pottery Barn blog), and write each guests name on the back in sharpie so they know where they are sitting.

Decoupage Pumpkin

Of course it wouldn’t be fall without a pumpkin or two. We’re obsessing over this idea from Budget Wise Home because, let's be honest, carving a pumpkin is a ton of work. Decoupage is a great and easy alternative that will help spruce up your house in no time without the messy, time-consuming knife work.

Luminaire

As the days get shorter, we always need creative ways to add light outside. These luminaires from A Practical Wedding are fully on theme and totally easy to make. Perfect for those late nights on the back porch, or evenings by a campfire. Keep this DIY in mind during the spring too, we’re thinking freshly printed flowers would look just as great as fall leaves.

Autumn Table Runner

Set your table on the cheap. With this DIY from 1-800-Flowers your dinner table can look chic without spending big bucks. Just lay out some leaves, and you’re set! To keep the leaves from flying all over the place, secure them together with some mod podge, or glue them to a plain table runner or piece of fabric.

Mason Jar Candles

Mason jars are still a tried and true staple for home decor, especially in the fall. These leaf candle holders from Spark and Chemistry would look great outside for guests to chat over when the sun starts to go down.

Flowers

Flowers might not be in season during these next few months, but that doesn’t mean your table has to go without a bouquet for all that time. While you could always try out one of these fall inspired centerpieces, you can also make a few of these leaf flowers from Woo Home, and make yourself a unique bouquet.

Leaf Initials

We can’t get enough of initials and monograms, and we’ve got crafts to prove it. But this fall inspired (and leaf filled) initial from The Thrifty Abode lwould be great for when the weather gets colder and the leaves start to fall. You could even use some inspiration from some of the other ideas and add some color to your craft!

Sharpie Plates

We’ve seen the sharpie writing trend really pick up recently. This DIY from Tiny Side Kick, is not your average draw and bake idea, the dotted leaves defiantly add dimension and character to any plate or bowl!

Black and White Picture

Some artwork is always appreciated in a house. This DIY idea from My Baking Addiction with have your guests in disbelief over the masterpiece you created but will also fit into your décor long past the first signs of winter.

Wreath

We’re obsessed with fall wreaths; we’ve found ways to DIY, and ways to use what’s lying around your house! Adding fall leaves to your front door will help make your guests fell more welcomed into  your warm house, even if it’s a bit chill outside.

Lantern

Bring the foliage inside with you this fall. Mix it up inside your house with Poppy Haus’ DIY. Even if the gold doesn’t quite go with your décor, you can mix and match colors to your liking. Wouldn’t this look great in maroon and gold? Or even this season hot color, emerald?
