Family Holiday Trivia

Every family has its own unique history and undoubtedly that includes some memorable and goofy occurrences at more than one family gathering!

Turn your family tree of memories into a fun Christmas party trivia game that everyone sitting around the table can enjoy.

Personalizing a trivia game is a great way to have everyone participate and feel included. Reach far back in time create some fabulous family questions.


A scoreboard (chalkboards, whiteboards and easels with white flip paper are ideal) to keep track of points.

Clue cards with well-researched questions relating to past holidays. When possible, try to make sure that the majority of the guests playing the Family Holiday Game were at the events the questions are based upon.

Sample Questions

This person is responsible for the infamous turkey at Thanksgiving '04.

Who's delicious cookie recipe has been kept a family secret since the early 1900s?

What year did Aunt Sally's car break down causing her to hitch a ride on a garbage truck to the family reunion?


Divide your family in teams.

One team should ask another a question from the stack of index cards.

You can create easy, intermediate and hard questions and award 1, 2, and 3 points for each correct answer accordingly.

The winner should receive a prize, perhaps a family heirloom or gag gift of some sort. Every family has a silly artifact or possession they like to remember or make jokes about!
