Festive DIY Drink Tassels for Any Occasion

Keeping track of whose glass is whose has never been so charming as it is with these tiny tassels.

Equal parts stylish and functional, tissue paper tassels add a pop of color to your party glasses, and help distinguish your glass from friend Susan, who just so happens to like to make her drinks twice as strong as you do.

Since tissue paper comes in such a wide variety of colors and patterns, the sky is the limit when it comes to choosing a color palette, making it easy to customize the tassels to suit your party’s theme.

Best of all, these decorative drink tassels are inexpensive and simple to construct at home with just a few basic supplies. So, whether you're celebrating a birthday or another special holiday, give this easy tutorial a try!

Small sheets of tissue paper in various colors
Sharp scissors
Thing gauge wire or ribbon

Cut a panel of tissue paper about 4 inches wide and 6 inches long, fold it in half lengthwise, and using scissors, cut fringe about half way up the panel. Flip and do the same on the other side. There should be about 1/4-inch gap between the two sets of fringe.

Next, begin rolling tissue paper lengthwise, as tightly as possible. Hold the rolled paper in the center, in the gap between the fringe. Begin twisting at the center until a loop is easily formed and can be folded in and onto itself. Add a dab of glue for extra hold.

Slip wire or ribbon through the loop to make attaching your tassel easy, as well as to give more structure and durability to the decoration. String several tassels for a more eye catching effect, or tie on name tags for a personalized drink tag.
