Festive Ways to Dress Your Drink for the Holidays

While there's no rule saying you can't mix up a fun themed drink any time of the year, the holiday season is so chock full of celebrations and excuses to have a cocktail or two, it's the best chance to have fun with your glass.

From toasty Thanksgiving sips to sparkling New Year's Eve cocktails, festive drinks are an essential part of nearly any holiday celebration. So, get creative and have some fun with your holiday cocktail recipes, but don't just stop with the ingredients you're using. Garnishes are almost as important and we've got a few fun ideas to dress any drink up for a holiday soiree.

Mini Bites as Garnishes

Party guests at a cocktail party will appreciate this first garnish more than you'd think. We all know the balancing act of trying to keep hold of your glass while trying to grab an hors d'oeuvre from the serving tray at a cocktail party. Kill two birds with one stone and serve your cocktail with the mini bite on it!

You can get really creative here. For a more savory sip, try this bacon melontini that comes complete with a melon garnish that's wrapped in prosciutto. Another mix we love? A lightened up Bloody Mary with a Cajun shrimp on the rim.

For a sweeter sip later in the evening, try a flute glass filled with pink sparkling wine and garnished with a Fannie May Chocolate Covered Strawberry. There's nothing more sophisticated, or delicious, than one of these treats - it IS dipped in chocolate after all! - and it makes for a perfect garnish to a festive cocktail. To compliment or sparkling wine we went with the champagne infused berry, but there are so many options to choose from.

The Ultimate Holiday Sip

The holiday season is prime baking season, but if you're looking to have your cookie and drink, too, it doesn't get much easier than this!

Serve up your traditional holiday mug of eggnog, but garnish it with a cookie. We've got the simple how-to here.

Rimmed Fun

You rim your margarita with salt during the summer, but did you ever consider having some rim fun around the holidays? We've got quite a few clever ideas that taste great and add a ton of festive flair to the simplest of cocktail recipes.

Coconut shavings are ideal for turning an ordinary red martini into a sippable Santa hat. Simply dip your glass' rim in a simple syrup and then into a dish covered in coconut shavings before you pour yourself a glass!

Whether you serve it for Thanksgiving dessert or at your holiday party, this chocolate martini, rimmed in chocolate shavings, of course, will delight guests.
