First Day of School Activities for Kids

Keep back-to-school jitters at bay with some fun activities for the kids. Here are a few ideas for the first day.

Lunch Box Love Notes

Staying at school without your parent or a “safe” person being close by can be scary thing. For many children it is the first time that they are being "left" for any extended period of time with people who are strangers to them.

Help bring a smile to their faces at lunch time by including a drawing that the two of you have made together.

Just grab some fun back to school theme note cards like the ones pictured here and create a week's worth of memories together!

Labeling Personal Items for School

One of the first rules at any school is that all personal items must be labeled. You can help teach your child to identify their name and get them excited about things like “share day” by involving them in the labeling process.

You can either create simple labels on your computer or download and print these free school themed labels from my collection.

Learning Craft Fun for Kids

Encourage growth and learning in a fun way. Kids will enjoy making and playing with homemade play dough, but they'll also learn about mixing, shapes, molding and crafting in the process.

Another craft for the kids that will also help add a decorative element to the party is melted crayon wall art. As you create, discuss the difference between liquids and solids for a quick science lesson the kiddies will enjoy!
