Ghostly Layered Invitation

I wanted to make a glam ghost card with a bit of whimsy for a kids' Halloween party. This design uses layers of brightly colored scrapbook paper as a fun and non-frightful invitation for the little ones.

Supplies

2 sheets purple and 1 sheet black cardstock (8 1/2 x 11 inches)
3 sheets designer scrapbook paper in complementary colors (such as the purple and green patterned paper on the card)
Paper trimmer
Scissors
Double-stick tape
Gluestick
Crystal letter stickers
"Please Join Us" sticker or similar label

Directions

Fold the purple cardstock in half to make an 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 card.

Tip: Use a bone folder along the folded edge to make a nice flat crease.

Note: This card is in a "landscape" format and opens from the bottom up.

Cut 2 different patterned sheets of the scrapbook paper into 5 x 4-inch rectangles and position one on the left front of the card and the other on the right front of the card as exemplified by the green lined paper under the ghost and the leafy paper under the "Please join us" label.

Attach the rectangles to the front of the card using double-stick tape.

Cut a 1 1/2-inch wide by 5-inch long strip of purple cardstock and place it slightly left of center on the card. Use double-stick tape to attach in to the card. Spell out the word "BOO" vertically on the strip using crystal letter stickers.

Cut out a ghost shape from the remaining scrapbook paper.

Cut out eyes and the bottom trim for the ghost from black cardstock.

Use gluestick to adhere the eyes on the ghost.

Use double-stick tape to put the black trim on the ghost's bottom and attach the ghost to the front of the card.

Apply the "Please join us" label to the right lower half of the card. Cut 1/4-inch wide strips of black cardstock and then cut a strip to fit across the top of the card applied with double-stick tape. Frame the top and bottom of the label with black strips and attach with double-stick tape as well.

Write the party information inside the card and send to friends as an invitation to your Halloween party!
