Fun & Easy Kids Craft Ideas for Grandparents Day

You shouldn't need a special day to spend time with grandparents, but we're glad they have their own holiday just so we show how much we truly appreciate them.

When I was younger I used to love making my grandparents little homemade gifts; things they could save and treasure, or just put on their fridge.

This year, I decided to round up a few fun, kid-friendly craft ideas that will get your kids creating and imagining wonderful little tokens for their grandparents.

Get a Little Dirty

Kids love getting messy, so why not let them use their hands and feet to make art? I love this DIY pop out card Life is Sweet made with her child. The handprint flips open to reveal a picture of her son and a cute message for his grandparents.

Put Some Love in the Oven

Baking in the kitchen is always something I love. If grandma and grandpa have a sweet tooth, making their favorite dessert might be the best way to their heart. It can obviously be dangerous to have kids handling knifes and standing near a hot oven, so make sure you let them handle the safe tasks like stirring the bowl or scooping the muffin mix into the pan.

This zucchini chocolate chip muffin recipe from Chrissy's Crafts won me over and I love that she provides free printables you can easily print out and top your muffins with. Kids can help tape the printables to toothpicks and stick them in the top of your muffins.

Fridge Worthy Gifts

Magnets are an easy craft kids can make for their grandparents. Parents will have to be present to make sure small children don't swallow anything small of course. Magnetic photos of your kids will make a great gift grandma and grandpa can show off one their fridge, but since fall will be creeping up on us shortly, pretty autumn leaves also make a pretty addition.

Using a stencil of a leaf, colored tissue paper, glue and a few magnets, kids can have fun crafting these fall decorations for their grandparents fridge.

Grandparents Day is the first Sunday after Labor Day so make it special!
