Hot Air Balloon Baby Shower Ideas

Maybe it’s because of the movie “Up!” or a sudden interest in vintage hot air balloons. Whatever the case may be, a hot air balloon baby shower has become quite the popular theme. It has plenty of the adorable levels you are looking for when attending a baby shower.

We got inspired by this growing baby shower theme and dug around to find some of the essential elements you’ll need if you’re looking to plan a hot air balloon baby shower. The nostalgia surrounding hot air balloons transport party guests to another era and what a theme should do. Take you to another place!

Hot Air Balloon Centerpieces

Basic Grey featured this DIY hot air balloon centerpiece you can create and place on your dining table or dessert spread. What’s great about this craft project is that it serves a dual purpose as you can use it to display candies or other sweet treats.

Check on her tutorial for the complete instructions.

DIY Décor from the Ceiling

This craft might require a bit more craftiness but don’t shy away from trying. Fabric Paper Glue featured these DIY hot air balloons tutorial that you can make for your baby shower decorations.

You can hang them over a yummy sweet treats spread filled with the mom-to-be’s favorite cookies, cupcakes, cakes, fruits and more.

Up in the Clouds

Hot air balloons aren’t the only thing you can play in your shower. Clouds also match the theme perfectly. The Cake Blog had these sweet treats on a stick.

The stick had printable paper clouds attached to them for a cute way to decorate your desserts.

Cookies That Go Up, Up and Away!

You can’t go wrong with hot air balloon cookies at this shower. These detailed cookies are so pretty to look at that guests may not want to eat them!

You can always simplify them by decorating the balloon all one color if you pressed for time.

Drink Glasses

Let your guests drink in the theme. These little glass bottles (Starbucks Frappuccino bottles sans label) and paper straws will give your party that extra something. Plus, you can cut out mini clouds and stick them on the straws to kick it up another notch.

Soaring Cupcake

This cupcake topper tops them all. Flying high above the rest, we love this idea from Hostess with the Mostess because you only need to decorate one cupcake to make your dessert table look great! Place one cupcake on a stand, or even just leave it among the rest, and stick a balloon into it for a sweet hot air balloon.

Placecards

Present your finger foods with these fan label cards. Just fold some colorful index cards like Elizabeth Bryant did on her blog, and add a small flag with the name of the treat on it. You could also make these into place cards so your guests know where to sit!

Cake Pops

via catchmyparty.com

We’re seeing cake pops all over, and if you still don’t know what gender your baby is these pink and blue cake pops would work nicely with your theme, all you need are some wooden sticks and food coloring!

Invitations

via fabricpaperglue.com

What would a party be without invitations that fit the part? Of course there are some great options to buy, but we like these DIY ones from Fabric Paper Glue because you can customize them to the colors of your choice, though their yellow ones are perfect for a surprise gender reveal!
