How-to Make a 1st Birthday Scrapbook

Putting the time and effort into a well put together scrapbook will transform your ordinary scrapbook into a keepsake you can enjoy for years to come. Besides photos, what should you put in your baby’s scrapbook? Here are a few ideas for getting the most out of your baby’s 1st birthday scrapbook.

Embellishments.

Use cute, baby themed embellishments to dress up your scrapbook. Scrapbooking paper with tiny, adorable teddy bears add that special touch. Use diaper pins to hold larger items together in the book.

Firsts.

Use this scrapbook as a way to document your child’s “firsts”. This can include photos of your child’s first bath or first Christmas. It can also be a collection of items like the fabric from your baby girl’s first dress or first booties.

Treasure those baby hands.

This is a must for any baby scrapbook – document your child’s baby hands and foot prints! Head over to your local craft store, they usually have tons of kits for making ink prints of those adorable little baby prints.

Collect birthday cards.

Your little bundle of joy is loved by many, and chances are, you have a whole box of “Happy 1st” Birthday cards just collecting dust. Why not include these in your scrapbook? You don’t have to include the whole card, just cut out the personalized message. It’s a great way to include your friends and family in this scrapbook, as well.

Document the first birthday party.

In 5 years, the only way your child will recollect their first birthday party is through videos and photos. Be sure to snap lots of photos of your friends and family oogling the guest of honor! Dedicate a whole scrapbook page to this milestone event. Use the invitation as well as any personalized party favors like napkins or ribbons.

Invest in a Polaroid Instant Camera.

These old fashioned cameras have been discontinued, which means that film has a pretty hefty price tag. But you can’t deny the charm an old school Polaroid photograph has. The cameras themselves can be found for under $10 online, so splurge on the film and document the first few months of your child’s life. Take a photo at 1 month old, 2 months old, etc. This will give your scrapbook a vintage feel.
