How to Make Snowflake Window Decals

Long live the snow day! Keep your windows decorated and little hands busy with this kid-friendly DIY snowflake decals craft.

The trick to battling a case of cabin fever is to keep house-bound hands busy and happy at all times.

Crafts are fun and inexpensive way to entertain the little ones, especially on a snow day, and these pretty little window decals are easy enough for kids to make on their own.

Most of the supplies you’ll find you already have in your craft stash, but if not it’s always good to stock up for a snowy day when the kiddies will be home from school and trapped indoors!

Wax or parchment paper
Cookie sheet
Puff paint or any dimensional paint in a white or opalescent color
Snowflake template

Download and print the snowflake template.

Cut a sheet of wax or parchment paper to size and place on cookie sheet—you may want to secure with tape to prevent papers from slipping and sliding as you trace.

With the fine tip of the puff paint tube trace the template, connecting all lines with smooth and steady strokes. For smaller decals, make sure the lines aren’t too thick or they’ll be too heavy to stick to the window.

When all lines are carefully traced allow paint to dry thoroughly, at least 4 hours.

Once dry, carefully peel back paper, taking care not to tear the finer lines. On a clean, slightly damp, glass surface gently press decals and enjoy the wintery wonderland you’ve created!
