Invitations for a Color Themed Party

One of the easiest elements to incorporate into your plans for a color themed celebration is the invitation. Not only is it easy to make your own, it's also a great opportunity to get creative and customize the design to honor the occasion.

We created this simple invitation with decorative orange cut-outs, orange ink, and orange ribbon to fit the color scheme of the adult birthday party lunch we hosted. Use our how-to if you'd like to recreate, or use it as inspiration to craft a unique design of your own.

Invitation How-To:

1. First, fold a 6-inch square of cardstock in half.

2. Next, punch 8 circles (1 1/2 inch diameter) from patterned paper in the same color scheme. Adhere the circle cut outs to the front of the card in whatever design you'd like. Though the colors will correspond, no two invitation have to look alike, which is another reason we're such fans of DIY invitations!

3. Stamp or print a greeting for the front of the card. Layer this on to a piece of cardstock allowing about a 1/4 inch border all the way around. (You can do the same for the party details - date, time, location, contact information - if you'd like. Or, just hand write those in.)

4. Finally, punch a small hole in the corner of the front greeting piece of paper and tie a ribbon in a complementary color through it. Adhere the greeting to the front of the card.

There are also tons of great resources for birthday invitations if you're in a pinch for time and can't make your own.  All you need is a few minutes to order online and you can check this box off your birthdya party to do list!
