Mason Jar Santa Cakes

Turn your mason jars into a festive and delicious santa-inspired treat!

"You better watch out, you better not cry, better not pout, I'm telling you why: Santa Clause is coming to town!"

This Santa Clause is coming in a 1/2 pint size mason jar and is totally edible. These Santa cakes can be cooked and served right inside of your mason jars. I’m all for less cleanup, plus there’s just something about mason jars that make them fun to eat and drink out of.

These cake jars would be perfect for a holiday party or festive treat for the kids. Kids can get in on the mixing and decorating part of this craft, while the adults man the oven and scissors.

  • 14 – 1/2 pint Mason Jars
  • 1 Box White Cake (plus ingredients listed on box)
  • Red Food Coloring
  • Red Icing (I used Wilton Cookie Icing in the squeezable bottle)
  • Non-Stick Cooking Spray
  • Black Stickable Felt
  • Yellow Cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Craft Glue

Step 1: Make white cake batter according to the box. Mix in red food coloring until you get your desired shade of red.

Step 2: Spray 14 – 1/2 pint mason jars with non-stick cooking spray. Fill jars 1/2 way full with cake batter, place on a cookie sheet and bake according to box. Allow to cool. If cake is coming out of the top, take a knife and trim off excess cake. Ice the tops using red icing.

Step 3: Cut 14 – 2 x 10 inch strips of black stickable felt. Adhere them around the mason jars.

Step 4: Cut out 3x3 inch yellow cardstock squares and cut a little square inside each one. Adhere the squares to the middle of the black felt to look like belts. Enjoy!
