Meet the Designer: Martha Williams

We interviewed Celebrations Designer, Martha Williams, and got to know the ins and outs of her design tricks! Take a look and get inspired!

Could you tell us about your work? What inspires you?

After graduating with a degree in Business, I worked in the business world for seven years before becoming a full time Mom. I always had a desire to own my own business and use my creative talents, so eight years ago I started my online business, The Lily Pad (www.thelilypad.us). I have also written a children’s book and donate my products to local charities. I am a self taught graphic artist and every single design on the web site is original art created by me. I absolutely love what I do! This business has been so rewarding. My goal is to create designs unique only to The Lily Pad and I am inspired from the positive comments I receive from my customers.

How would you describe the style of most of your designs?

Fun, unique, and whimsical

How has your art changed over the years? Do you have any predictions of what it will be like in the future?

Being a self taught graphic artist, my designs have improved during the years as I have learned more design tips. As I create new designs, my choices have grown from a few simple designs to hundreds of choices. It will continue to grow and improve in the future.

What made you decide to work with Celebrations.com?

I started using Celebrations to send online evites and then decided I should add my own designs. I think it is a good way to gain exposure and am thrilled when my designs are used.

If you had to choose a favorite invite you have made, what would it be?

It is hard to choose a favorite one because each one was fun to design. If I had to choose, I think my designs with whimsical characters designed to resemble the guest of honor are my favorite. I have done characters of brides and moms to be with hairstyles and hair color to resemble the person. That special touch is what makes The Lily Pad unique.

What benefits have you found the Internet has for your work?

My business is an online business only, and through the internet I have been able to build a client base all over the country. It is also an effective way to advertise through email and Facebook.
