Mermaid Birthday Party Ideas for Girls

What girl wouldn't love to run around at their birthday party eating themed cupcakes, wearing a pretty tutu and pretending she was a beautiful mermaid? For the girl that loves to play dress up and use her imagination, this theme party idea would be the perfect way to celebrate her birthday.

With a simple color scheme, frilly decor and themed crafts and treats, you can easily pull together a mermaid theme party for your little girl that will really stand out.

A pretty blue and white color scheme is easy to find and match decor pieces to decorate your party. There are a lot of items in your home that can be used like white chairs, plates and a cake stand and you can add blue accents with paper product throughout like streamers, ribbons and cupcake wrappers.

The table setting above was taken from The Tom Kat Studio. I love the use of large napkins as a geometric table runner instead of buying a tablecloth. You can replicate the chair place card with a little bit of tulle and some cardstock. Beachy accents like starfish cookies and plates add a cute mermaid touch.

If you want to go with more neutral beachy tones, mirror the pretty table setting above that was featured on Kara's Party Ideas. Use a burlap table runner and pretty vine accents with a few seashells to decorate the table naturally.

Get the girls crafting by letting them paint seashells or make their own mermaid jewelry by stringing shells together.

DIY-Seashell-Craft-For-KidsI love this tutorial using candy molds and Plaster of Paris from Girl. Inspired. Buy assorted acrylic paints and enough paint brushes for the whole party and let the girls go to town! You will have to make the seashells the night before so that they are dry and ready to go for the party. If that is too time consuming for you, just pick up some seashells from the beach or craft store.

You can easily whip up these oyster cookies that we saw over at Catch My Party. Just frost the inside of two cookies and place a marshmallow or white gumball in the middle.

If you are good in the kitchen and want to try a recipe that is a bit of a challenge, these mermaid seaweed candies from Sprinkles Bakes make the perfect addition to a dessert bar.

A big cake or cupcakes are definitely a must. Think outside the box with these glamorous white cupcakes with pretty mermaid fondant tails from Bondville.
