Milk & Cookies on a Stick

This clever, yet simple, idea is perfect for parties since it adds a pop of fun to a display, but kids will enjoy the idea whenever they're treated to the classic combo.

My parents, I'm sure like many others, never let my sister or I enjoy dessert if we didn't first clear our dinner plates. Once the veggies and meat were devoured, my favorite dessert request was milk and cookies.

I like to think after all those milk and cookie desserts I enjoyed as a kid that I developed quite the expertise when it comes to dunking technique.

While I loved the bubbles dunking my cookie added to the milk and the creamier taste the milk added to my cookie, I kind of hated the idea of my fingers getting dunked themselves. Call me a neat-freak, but something about my little fingers dipping into the cold milk took away from the sweet treat.

For all those kids (and adults) out there who, like me, can't handle the thought of their fingers dipping below the milk, I suggest popping your favorite cookie on a stick and using that to dunk instead!

As a kid my favorite happened to be Cheryl's buttercream frosted cookies my grandparents would send over to my sister and I in cute bundles. I couldn't resist going back to those days with their latest smile design. But, this will work with whatever cookie you love most!

While I'm partial to just dunking, my partner-in-crime at the office, Jaclyn, liked the idea of going a bit further - creating a creamy vanilla milkshake topped with whipped cream and garnished with a Cheryl's cookie on a stick.

Jaclyn followed this basic recipe for her milkshake:

  • 1 scoop plain vanilla ice cream
  • 1 tall glass of milk
  • whipped cream for topping

Pour your milk and ice cream into a blender. Pulse to blend just a bit, then pour into a large glass. Top with whipped cream and garnish with a cookie on a skewer so it doesn't get soggy before you're ready to dunk!
