7 Most Outrageous Burger Recipes Ever

Would you like that medium-well, or topped with ice cream?

Some food fusions are a good idea. Take the cronut, for example: croissant + doughnut = unmatched deliciousness. Fettuccine Alfredo + pizza? OK, we'll take it. But when it comes to traditional old hamburgers, some restaurants and chefs have gone above and beyond the traditional backyard recipe.

Your favorite double-bacon cheeseburger and patty melt look like wimpy old sandwiches compared to some of these burger creations. Are you bold enough to try a hot fudge sundae or cronut burger? Or will you stick to your standard single-patty order? In honor of National Burger Month (which is a thing, apparently, and it's in May), we've rounded up some of our faves.

1. Doughnut Burger

This burger creation seems like an Urban Legend, but it is, in fact, the real deal. Some restaurants carry the specialty burger (the Gateway Grizzlies minor league baseball park in Sauget, Ill. sells a Krispy Kreme doughnut!). This Doughnut Cheeseburger is from Rub BBQ in New York City uses a glazed doughnut instead of a bun.

2. Cronut Burger

Not to be outdone, Toronto bakery Le Dolci used the latest baked craze as a bun on their Cronut Burger. It was also topped with a maple bacon jam, which made everyone sick. So maybe it's best to stay away from that one.

3. Bacon Weave Double Cheeseburger

If you like bacon on your burgers, then you'll love this. This Bacon Weave Double Cheeseburger from Dude Foods is made from strips of bacon woven around two beef patties.

4. Ramen Burger

Why use a regular bun when you can use fried ramen noodles? This Ramen Burger started popping up in Brooklyn's Smorgasburg food fest, courtesy of ramen chef Keizo Shimamoto.

5. Spaghetti Burger

This creation is like the Ramen burger's Italian cousin. Made with dried spaghetti noodles instead of ramen, the Spaghetti Burger from PYT Burger also includes garlic butter buns and a mozzarella-stuffed meatball patty.

6. Mac & Cheese Burger

There seems to be a theme going with wacky buns. The bun for this mac and cheese burger called the Mac Attack is made from fried mac and cheese patties. Go ahead and schedule your bypass surgery before you indulge in this creation at Chicago's Rockit Bar and Grill.

7. Hot Fudge Sundae Burger

Have your dessert, and eat it, too! This recipe from McGuire's Irish Pub in Pensacola, Fla. is like dinner-meats-dessert (see what I did there?). A standard burger is topped with a scoop of ice cream and hot fudge. This looks... tasty?
