Nautical Baby Shower Flag Banner Decoration

Colorful paper banners are one of the easiest, most inexpensive ways to add to your party decor.

With the variety of patterned scrapbook paper that's available at your local craft store, it's easy to match your color and theme, and you can make the banner any size you need for the space you're decorating!

Banners can be attached between doorways or posts, across picture frames or mirrors, or along the edge of your party table. They're perfect for any area that needs a little splash of color.

If you're really feeling creative, you can use stickers, glitter, or other embellishments to really create a conversation starter. We recommend sticking to a few basic colors for a more put-together look. For this banner, I created small flags that resemble the real nautical flags - but with lots of hot pink!

2 X 6 inch pieces of patterned scrapbook paper

Thin twine

Punches - star shaped and heart shaped

Step 1: Fold the 2 X 6 inch papers in half, lengthwise.

Step 2: Decorate the front side of the flag with stripes or shapes.

Step 3: Slip the folded edge of the paper over the length of  twine, apply adhesive to the inside, and press tightly together.

Step 4: Trim some of the flag ends by snipping a triangle shape at the bottom. You can also cut each side of a flag to create a long triangular shaped flag.
