Nautical Canvas Baby Shower Decoration

Creating your own nautical canvas art is amazingly easy with a little paint, ribbon and an 8 X 10 piece of artist's canvas.

You can put your artwork on an easel to display on the food table or attach a ribbon to the back and hang it on the front door to set the mood and greet the party-goers the minute they arrive.

  • 8 X 10 piece of artist canvas
  • Navy acrylic paint
  • Sponge applicator
  • Masking tape
  • Ribbon
  • Wooden embellishment

Step 1: Apply strips of masking tape the length of the canvas, creating an even space between each piece of tape.

Step 2: With a sponge applicator, paint the white areas of the canvas with the navy acrylic paint. Allow to dry completely.

Step 3: Carefully remove the masking tape pieces to reveal your striped canvas. Select a nautical-themed wooden embellishment to add to the front of your canvas. I liked this anchor, but took it apart to paint the back part hot pink to match my decor.

Step 4: Adhere the wooden embellishment to the canvas with glue dots. Add a hot pink bow to the top of the canvas. If you plan to hang the canvas, attach the ribbon to the back by stapling or tacking it to the wooden part of the canvas back.

If you love puns as much as we do, you'll love this creative baby "shower" idea. Use decorative rain boots stuffed with faux grass and top with a special message or greeting for an easy way to add festiveness to the table.

This DIY fabric letter decoration not only adds a touch of color to the room, but is also a great way to show off the initials of the upcoming bundle of joy! Use the same tones as the rest of the theme for a put-together look your guests will be impressed with.
