Paper Gingerbread Men Christmas Place Cards

In many households this holiday season, children everywhere will be tasked with setting the table to some extent, all the while longing for something fun to do while the grown ups busy themselves with holiday preparations.

This year, we are a setting up a place card craft station that will give our younger guests something to do before we ask them to set the table. This simple paper Christmas craft for kids requires no supervision, cutting tools or skill, and it will channel the children’s creativity and excitement for Christmas.

Be sure to set this craft activity up well ahead of dinner. You’ll want to allow enough decorating and drying time for your place cards before you place them on the table for dinner. The supply list below is for a single place card, so be sure you have 2 gingerbread men shapes cut from your scrapbooking paper and a single paper clip per place card!

2 pre-cut gingerbread men from scrapbooking paper

Quick drying craft glue

Scissors (optional)

Brown Scrapbooking paper

Pearl Pen or White Puffy Paint

Step 1: I used dye-cut scrapbooking paper, but you can always trace out and cut the gingerbread shape in advance for the kids. If they are old enough and you’re comfortable with scissor use sans supervision, you can let the kids cut their own gingerbread men shape out.

Step 2: Decorate the gingerbread men using puffy paint or a pearl pen, and then allow it to dry for 1-2 hours.

Step 3: Once dry, position the paperclip on the topside of a blank gingerbread man and fasten it with enough glue to cover the clip.  While still wet, position the underside of the decorated gingerbread man on top of the paperclip and then allow it to dry for 30 minutes.

Step 4: After the entire place card has set, write the name of your holiday dinner guests on the front of each, if not already done, and stand the gingerbread men up and use them as holiday place cards for all your guests!
