Patriotic Floral Centerpiece Decoration

Make this inexpensive patterned floral centerpiece to mark your Independence Day festivities.

The look is created with recycled glass jars, scrapbook paper, and supermarket blooms, and by using fresh flowers that are classic white, you can have fun introducing saturated colors and graphic patterns in the paper sleeves around the containers.

This is a really simple centerpiece that you can throw together in no time, so it’s perfect for a last minute get-together or casual July 4th at home with your family!

Supplies

Small matching glass jars

Scrapbook paper in red, white, or blue patterns

Scissors

Rubber cement

White flowers of choice (carnations, spider mums, etc.)

Directions:

Step 1: Collect some small matching glass jars. Reuse food jars like those used for salsa, pickles, etc. Remove any labels and clean the jars thoroughly.

Step 2: Gather assorted scrapbook paper in red, white, or blue patterns. Stripes and stars are obvious picks for this holiday, but any pattern in patriotic colors is fair game!

Step 3: Cut a strip of paper that is the height of the flat surface of the jar. Pull the paper tightly around the jar and use rubber cement to glue the paper to itself, so you’ll have a band of paper that you could slip on or off the jar. Repeat for the other glass containers, using a different patterned paper for each jar.

Step 4: Fill the jars with water and white flowers. Snip the florals down to size to form a full arrangement in each container. I used inexpensive carnations, but white spider mums, dahlia, ranunculus, or anemone would be stunning!

This centerpiece makes it so easy to try out different looks. Mixing patterns appeals to eclectic tastes, but if you prefer a more streamlined look, you could make all of the sleeves out of the same paper.
