Plantable Paper Mason Jar Gift Idea

Whether you're looking to welcome a new neighbor to the block, thank a friend for a small act of kindness or simply looking to do something nice for no reason at all, this little spring-inspired idea is the perfect gift.

We combined two big trends this year - mason jars and plantable paper - to create a simple gift that's guaranteed to make someone smile. It doesn't cost a ton to put together, but it will leave a lasting impact on the recipient.

Our plantable paper tags were filled with wildflower seeds and all your recipient needs to do is plant the paper directly into the soil filled jar and watch the flowers grow. To make the presentation a bit prettier for first impressions, we stuck similar wildflower blooms into the soil, but you don't have to do this - just seal your jar with the lid and wrap the twine tied tag around it's top!

To Make These Mason Jar Gifts:

  • 1 mason jar
  • Potting soil
  • Plantable paper
  • Scissors/paper punch
  • Hole puncher
  • Twine
  • Wild flowers (optional)

Step 1: Fill your mason jar with potting soil. You can add in some wildflowers if you'd like to give your gift additional color/appeal for presentation, but this isn't necessary.

Step 2: Punch out or cut out your plantable paper tag. Then, wrap your mason jar with twine (we went around twice, but up to you on how many times). Use a hole puncher to punch a hole in your plantable paper tag and then thread the twine through it after it's been wound around the rim of your mason jar.

Step 3: Gift away!
